Description
The 2N3905 is a PNP bipolar junction transistor (BJT) commonly used for general-purpose applications such as switching and amplification. It is part of the widely popular 2N390x transistor family and is designed for low-power electronic circuits.
Encased in a compact TO-92 package, the transistor is easy to handle and suitable for breadboard prototyping and PCB designs. It supports a maximum collector current of approximately 200mA and a collector-emitter voltage of up to -40V, making it ideal for small signal applications.
The 2N3905 provides a moderate current gain (hFE typically between 40 and 160), allowing it to amplify weak signals effectively while also functioning as a switch in digital circuits.
As a PNP transistor, it operates by allowing current flow when the base voltage is lower than the emitter, making it suitable for high-side switching and complementary designs alongside NPN transistors like the 2N3904.
It offers fast switching speeds and low noise performance, making it suitable for audio, signal processing, and control circuits.
