Description
The MAX9814 AGC Microphone Amplifier Module is a compact and powerful audio sensing module designed to capture and amplify sound signals with high clarity. It integrates an electret microphone with the MAX9814 chip, which includes a built-in preamplifier and automatic gain control (AGC) system.
The automatic gain control (AGC) feature dynamically adjusts amplification levels—reducing loud sounds and boosting quieter ones—ensuring stable and distortion-free audio output even in changing environments.
Operating within a 2.7V to 5.5V range, the module is compatible with most microcontrollers such as Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi. It outputs an analog signal (approx. 2V peak-to-peak with a 1.25V bias), which can be directly read by ADC pins.
The module supports selectable gain levels (40dB, 50dB, 60dB) via pin configuration, allowing users to adjust sensitivity based on application needs. It also includes configurable attack/release ratios for fine-tuning AGC response.
With a wide frequency response (20Hz–20kHz) and low noise performance, the MAX9814 ensures accurate audio capture suitable for both voice and environmental sound detection.
Typical applications include:
- Voice recognition systems
- Sound level detection and monitoring
- Audio recording projects
- Smart home and IoT voice interfaces
- Robotics and interactive devices
Thanks to its compact size, low power consumption, and intelligent gain control, the MAX9814 module is an excellent choice for projects requiring reliable and high-quality audio input.
